Thank you for joining us for the 2019 OnRamps Summit. We are delighted to explore our theme, From Engagement to Achievement: How Facilitated Networks Set Students On a Path for Success with each of you. Today, you will have an opportunity to innovate with a community of thought leaders in secondary and higher education working to transform learning and instruction and ensure all students meet their full potential.
First year college students undergo massive changes in their academic and personal lives as they grapple with new sets of expectations. Time management, student-directed learning, self-motivation, and personal advocacy—many students struggle to build these skills as they adjust to their new realities. Research from UT’s own Dr. David Yeager shows that metacognitive reflection on three things can to lasting improvements in student achievement: developing individualized strategies for success, valuing the effort required to respond to increased difficulty, and normalizing the need to reach out for help from others. In this workshop, you’ll develop strategies for incorporating these self-regulation skills into your pedagogy.
