The role of inquiry-based learning will be expanded for PHY-1 Mechanics, Heat, and Sound through some of the new lab activities. In this session, we will take a deeper look at the key components of inquiry-based learning and how they apply to these activities. We will also be introducing the pedagogical approach of the Investigative Science Learning Environment (ISLE) labs on which some of the lab activities have been based. Specifically, we will discuss the cycle of (i) observational experiments, (ii) possible explanations, (iii), testing experiments, and (iv) reflections and revisions.
